Golf Medicine has been established because of our interest in assessing and treating golfers of all ages and levels. Due to the growing popularity of golf and golf specific research, the mechanics of the golf swing are now well understood.
Using this knowledge, our goal is to provide golfers with more effective injury prevention, injury management and performance enhancement programs.
Golf Medicine has dedicated specialists who are not only up to date with the latest research developments but are also actively undertaking research themselves.
Kerrie Evans, the director of Golf Medicine, is a manipulative physiotherapist with a special interest in the assessment and treatment of golf specific injuries. Kerrie is currently enrolled in the PhD at the University of Sydney undertaking research looking at physical aspects of the golfer,
and the golf swing. The focus of her research over the last seven years has been low back pain amongst golfers and has involved tour professionals, trainee professionals as well as amateurs and has resulted in several publications in international physiotherapy and sports science journals.
Kerrie is a lecturer at Griffith University for the musculoskeletal program in the School of Physiotherapy. She also regularly lectures for other organisations including the PGA of Australia.
Kerrie’s company Golf Medicine has recently joined forces with Allsports Physiotherapy to open a practice in the heart of Southport. Combining allied health professionals including sports physicians, podiatrists, exercise scientists, biomechanists and physiotherapists,
Allsports Physiotherapy Southport are now regarded as the leading clinical facility for the physical aspects of golf on the Gold Coast. Golf specific exercise classes are also conducted on-site each week aimed at improving the key physical performance aspects of the golfer.

GOLF medicine has a team of dedicated sports medicine professionals who are not only up to date with the latest golf specific research developments but also actively involved in research themselves.
Due to the growing popularity of golf and golf specific research, the mechanics of the golf swing are now well understood. Using this knowledge, our goal is to provide golfers with the most up to date and effective injury prevention,
injury management and performance enhancement programs.
The golf swing requires very specific movements of the body. These specific movements are largely dictated by a golfers physical capabilities i.e. flexibility, strength, control and endurance.
Golf medicine is able to assess these aspects, by taking the golfer through a golf specific musculoskeletal screening.
A golf screening is able to highlight any potential problem areas for the golfer and assist in the development of an individualised golf exercise program, which can help prevent injury and improve performance.
Golf Medicine also offers a range of other services specific to the golfer, these include:
• access to a network of sports medicine professionals
• injury management & rehabilitation programs
• lectures & practical demonstrations
• golf specific exercise classes
• sport psychology
• golf nutrition
Through our networks, we have direct access to a number of leading sports medicine professionals including; sports physician, podiatrist, massage therapist, personal trainer, dietician, sports psychologist and golf biomechanist.
Golf medicine is dedicated to providing a holistic approach to golfers wanting to improve their game. Happy golfing from the team! |
